About this image

Performance targets are a common tool used by companies to measure and motivate employees. But how do they work? Are they effective?A performance target, or key performance indicator (KPI), is a metric that is used to track and measure progress towards a specific goal. KPIs can be financial, such as profitability or revenue growth, or non-financial, such as customer satisfaction or employee engagement.Companies use performance targets in order to assess whether they are on track to reach their goals. They can also be used to motivate employees by setting targets that challenge them to achieve more. However, there is debate about whether performance targets actually work. Some critics argue that they can lead to short-term thinking and bad decision-making in pursuit of the target. Others say that properly designed and implemented KPIs can be a helpful way to focus attention on what's important and drive improved performance.
